Coconuts or Olives?

In 2003 the scientists at McGill University in Canada published an article that could potentially change the way we eat when trying to manage our weight. The effects of ‘heart healthy’ olive oil were compared to highly saturated coconut oil in relation to the role they played in metabolism and body fat loss. Amazingly there was significantly greater loss of body fat tissue when the coconut oil was consumed as the only variable within a typical diet. The authors commented that coconut oil ‘may be considered as (an) agent that aids in the prevention of obesity or potentially stimulate weight loss.’ Who would have thought it? Eating saturated fat may well provide an effective answer for losing fat and beating the bulge!
